A Leatherheads Red Carpet Party will be held at The Davenport to celebrate its premiere April 4, 2008. The 1920s era football movie, with George Clooney, Renée Zellweger, and John Krasinski, was partially filmed in historic Greer.
Movie-goers will gather at 6:45 pm in the marbled lobby of The Camelot Cinemas in Greenville, where director George Clooney viewed takes while filming the romantic comedy. The big screen and high-definition digital projector are LucasFilms THX-certified and one of the only three of its kind in the nation.
The premiere will be followed by a champagne party from 9:00 - midnight at The Davenport, a newly renovated ballroom at 230 Trade St, in the historic Greer district. Party-goers will walk the red carpet and be interviewed by Hollywood "celebrities" Alison Lister and Jane Hawkins. Paparazzi will take photos which will be available online.
Guests will be served champagne, wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres donated by local restaurants Justin's, The Cazbah, Great Bay Oyster House, Lunch ‘N Such, Cafe Rivera, and Bin 112. They may dance to the Leatherheads soundtrack, music from the 20’s, and the band Jabberwocky.
Dress is black tie optional. There will be contests for best Hollywood star look-alikes and best 1920’s attire, with winners receiving dinner for two.
A drawing will be held from the first 200 pre-sold party tickets for five couples for a limousine ride to and from the theater with our Hollywood doubles.
Tickets are $75, and are available at The Davenport, and the following Greer retail merchants: Chelsea’s, Dobson Gifts & Hardware, Girlfriends, Maiale Boutique, Smith & James, and Talloni A Shoe Salon.
